Silvi's Social Network

I’am Silvi Aliza, A sudent of Bengkulu University majoring in English education. I came from Mukomuko and have been living there for 20 years. I often use Mukomuko language when talking with my friends from the same region and also when talking with my family, the difference is only when I talk with my friends I barely think about how I speak, I use the informal one cause we are all the same age while talking with my family I must think twice about what I said, I need to use formal language and watch what I said to them because I’m the youngest in my family and need to respect them who is much older than me. But when I went to Bengkulu I often use Bengkulu language. The picture above is my social network. The above is my social network illustration. In the chart, there are 5 members that I usually communicate with.

The first one is Sucia, she is my Friend from the university that came from Lampung. When communicating with Sucia at first, we often use informal Indonesian language because we are friends and have the same age, but now she already understands Bengkulu language so we use informal Bengkulu language to communicate with each others. The second one is my cousin Endah, she is my cousin and also Dini's and I junior in senior high school. Her mother is Javanese so in her daily life she often uses java language especially when talk with her family, but when communicating with me and at school she uses the Indonesian language. Of course, when talking to me which is her close relation, we often use informal Indonesian language.

The next one is My sister Amel. She is 28 years old and already married. In our daily life I often speak with her in Mukomuko language. When talk to her I use formal language because she is my sister and much older than me. I barely use high tone when talk to her, and use a low and smooth tone because I respect her as my sister. And the last one is Hesti, she is my sister’s sister-in-law and also my senior at senior high school. We barely talk to each other, so when talk to her I use formal language. In conversation, we use Mukomuko language because both of us are from Mukomuko
